Llyn Llech Owain is a shallow lake with an area of 3.5 hectares which gives its name to the country park in which it sits, it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest which was designated in 1993.

The Carmel transmitting station, located half a mile SSW of the village of Carmel in Carmarthenshire, has been broadcasting terrestrial TV and radio services since the mid-1970s. Carmel transmitting station is situated 2,100 feet northeast of Llyn Llech Owain Country Park.
