Chersonesus, contracted in medieval Greek to Cherson, was an ancient Greek colony founded approximately 2,500 years ago in the southwestern part of the Crimean Peninsula. Chersonesus Taurica is situated 1¼ km north of ТЦ ‘Стрелецкий’.

The Chersonesus Cathedral, officially Saint Vladimir's Cathedral in Chersonesus or Saint Volodymyr's Cathedral in Chersonesus, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral on the site of Chersonesos Taurica on the outskirts of Sevastopol, on the disputed territory of the Crimean Peninsula, in Ukraine. Vladimir Cathedral is situated 1½ km north of ТЦ ‘Стрелецкий’.
