Waimea Canyon
Waimea Canyon, on Kauai's West Side, is often described as “the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” The moniker became popular after American explorer John Wesley Powell came to the island of Kauai in 1869, although it is often falsely attributed to Mark Twain, the author.Photo: Aaronbernstein, CC BY-SA 3.0.
