Skua Beach is a sandy beach lying at the base of Scarlet Hill on the east side of Heard Island. The name Launches Beach appears to have had some usage by American sealers as shown by an unpublished sealer's map of "Hurds Island" of the 1860–70 period.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Scarlet Hill

Scarlet Hill is an ice-free, rounded hill, 410 m, overlooking Skua Beach on the east side of Heard Island. This feature appears to have been roughly charted on an 1874 chart by a British expedition under Nares in the Challenger.
Round Hill
Peak
Round Hill is an ice-free, rounded hill rising southward of Fairchild Beach and between Compton Glacier and Brown Glacier, on the northeast side of Heard Island. Round Hill is situated 3 km northwest of Skua Beach.

Fairchild Beach is a sandy beach, 0.32 nautical miles wide and 1 nautical mile long, which extends north from the base of Round Hill to the south side of the terminus of Compton Glacier, on the east side of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean. Fairchild Beach is situated 4 km northwest of Skua Beach.

Cape Lockyer
Locality
Cape Lockyer is a steep rock headland 1.5 nautical miles northeast of Lambeth Bluff on the southeast side of Heard Island. It was surveyed in 1948 by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions and named by them for Lieutenant H.C.J. Cape Lockyer is situated 10 km south of Skua Beach.
Elephant Spit

Elephant Spit is a 9 km long sand spit at the eastern end of subantarctic Heard Island, in the Australian territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands, lying in the Southern Ocean on the Kerguelen Plateau about 450 km south-east of the Kerguelen Islands. Elephant Spit is situated 10 km east of Skua Beach.
