Muness Castle is located on Unst, which is one of the Shetland Islands of Scotland. The castle is three kilometres east of the village of Uyeasound. Unst is Scotland's most northerly inhabited island, and Muness is the most northerly fortalice in the British Isles.

Clivocast is a settlement on the island of Unst in the Shetland Islands, Scotland at or grid reference HP6000 and is situated just east of Uyeasound. The 9 ft 10 in Uyea Breck Standing Stone nearby is said to mark the spot where the son of the Viking Harald Harfager was killed some time around 900AD. Clivocast is situated 3 miles west of The Vere.
