Skara Brae is a stone-built Neolithic settlement, located on the Bay of Skaill in the parish of Sandwick, on the west coast of Mainland, the largest island in the Orkney archipelago of Scotland.

It is renowned for its spectacular Old Red Sandstone coastal cliff scenery which includes sea stacks, blowholes, geos and frequently boiling seas. Yesnaby is situated 2 miles south of Bay of Skaill.

Twatt is a settlement in the parish of Birsay on the Mainland of Orkney, Scotland. It was previously the location of RNAS Twatt, from 1940–1949. Twatt is situated at the junction of the A986 and the A967. Twatt is situated 4 miles northeast of Bay of Skaill.
