Ecclefechan lies in the valley of the Mein Water, a tributary of the River Annan, 6+1⁄4 miles south of Lockerbie, five miles north of Annan and eight miles northwest of the English border. Ecclefechan is situated 3 miles west of Kirtlebridge.
