Carlisle Lake District Airport is a small airport located 5 NM north-east of Carlisle, England on a plain near the River Irthing. Originally opened as an RAF base in 1941, it came under government ownership in the 1960s before being sold to Haughey Airports in 2000 which was later purchased and rebranded as Stobart Air Limited. Carlisle Airport is situated 2½ miles northwest of Hayton.

Faugh is a small village situated to the East of the city of Carlisle and within 15 minutes of the Scottish Border. The village has always been English however the land of Cumberland was once Scottish with The String of Horses Inn pre-dating the Jacobites rising. Faugh is situated 1½ miles south of Hayton.
