Elphin
Elphin is a crofting township in Assynt, in the Sutherland area of Highland in Scotland. It lies about 15 miles north of Ullapool. Knockan Crag lies within the North West Highlands Geopark in the Assynt region of Scotland 21 kilometres north of Ullapool. During the nineteenth century Knockan Crag became the subject of much debate when geologists noted that the Moine schists at the top of the crag appeared to be older than the Cambrian and Ordovician rocks such as Durness limestone lower down. Knockan Crag is situated 2 miles southwest of Elphin.

Loch Veyatie is a large freshwater loch in north-west Scotland. It stretches for 6 km north-westwards from the settlement of Elphin, and lies between Suilven and Cùl Mòr. Loch Veyatie is situated 2½ miles northwest of Elphin.
