New Galloway is a town in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway. It lies on the west side of the valley of the Water of Ken, 1 mile north of the end of Loch Ken. New Galloway is situated 2½ miles southeast of St John’s Town of Dalry.

Balmaclellan is a small hillside village of stone houses with slate roofs in a fold of the Galloway hills in south-west Scotland. To the west, across the Ken River, the larger and more prosperous New Galloway lies below the Rhinns of Kells. Balmaclellan is situated 2½ miles southeast of St John’s Town of Dalry.
