Loch Alvie is a loch located north of the River Spey, in the civil parish of Alvie, in the council area of Highland, Scotland. The loch is about two miles southwest of Aviemore. HMS Loch Alvie, launched in 1944, is named after the loch.

Inverdruie is situated 2½ miles northeast of Alvie.

Kincraig is a village located north of Kingussie and south of Aviemore in Highland, Scotland. Its original name was Boat of Inch, reflecting the ferry boat crossing of the Spey River that once operated here but the name was changed after a single track bridge was erected in 1871. Kincraig is situated 3 miles southwest of Alvie.

Aviemore is a town in the Spey Valley of Highland Scotland. It's the main base for skiing and other outdoor activities in Cairngorms National Park. It's the largest of a straggle of villages including Rothiemurcus and Coylumbridge, also described here, and in 2020 had a population of 3230.
