Frösön is the largest island in the lake Storsjön, Jämtland, Sweden. Part of the city Östersund is located on the island. During most of recorded history Frösön was the regional centre of Jämtland, and it is the location of the Frösö Runestone, the northernmost runestone in the world. Frösön is situated 3½ km northwest of Mjälle.

Frösöstenen is the northernmost raised runestone in Scandinavia and Jämtland's only runestone. It originally stood at the tip of ferry terminal on the sound between the island of Frösön and Östersund. Frösö Runestone is situated 3 km northeast of Mjälle.
