Sabine Hills

The Sabine Hills is an area just north of Rome in Lazio in Italy. Perhaps most famous because its population fell victim to the “Rape of the Sabine women” by Rome, the hills have some interesting small towns.

Trebula Mutusca

Trebula Mutusca was an ancient city of the Sabines. It is located at Monteleone Sabino, a village about 3 km to the east of the Via Salaria. Pliny mentions both Sabine cities named Trebula: Trebulani qui cognominantur Mutuscaei, et qui Suffenates. Trebula Mutusca is situated 3 km east of Fosso delle Mole.

Santacittārāma Monastery

Santacittārāma is the name of the Italian Theravada Buddhist monastery in the Thai Forest Tradition lineage of Ajahn Chah located near Rome. In the spring of 1990 the Italian Bhikkhu Ajahn Thanavaro and then Anagārika John Angelori were sent by Ajahn Sumedho to take up residence in a small house outside the village of Sezze south of Rome. Santacittārāma Monastery is situated 3 km southwest of Fosso delle Mole.
