It is located on the northeastern part of the island in Ibestad Municipality in Troms county, Norway, just to the south of the Mjøsund Bridge and just northwest of the shore of the Astafjorden. Langlitinden is situated 3 km northwest of Storsteinneset.

It is part of the Norwegian County Road 848 that crosses the Mjøsundet strait between the mainland of Norway and the island of Andørja. Mjøsund Bridge is situated 4 km north of Storsteinneset.
