Whitegate is a village on the R352 regional road in northeastern County Clare, Ireland. It is part of the Catholic parish Mountshannon-Whitegate. The former local church, which had been in disuse for some years, is now a warehouse and lumberyard. Whitegate is situated 7 km southeast of Knockaunleam.

Mountshannon is a village in east County Clare, Ireland. It is part of the civil parish of Inishcaltra. The village is on the western shore of Lough Derg, north of Killaloe. Mountshannon won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition in 1981. Mountshannon is situated 8 km south of Knockaunleam.
