The Pitons are two mountainous volcanic plugs, volcanic spires, located in . Petit Piton is 743 m high and Gros Piton is 798.25 m high; they are linked by the Piton Mitan ridge.

Volcano
, also known as the Volcanic Center, is a 3.5 × 5 km-wide caldera on the island of that formed between 32,000 and 39,000 years ago.

is a geothermal field on the island of . It is located to the southwest in the district of , a name given by the French meaning 'sulphur mine', because of the proximity of the town to the site.

Town
was originally known as Anse Citron, and an independent parish was established in 1765. In 1769 a census was done and recorded 75 whites, 25 free coloured, 512 negroes and 69 estates in .
