Big Diomede Island is the easternmost point of Russia, in the Bering Strait. While it has no permanent population, it is host to a weather station and a military installation. Little Diomede, only a few kilometers away, is the westernmost part of Alaska.

Diomede is an incorporated city on the west coast of Little Diomede Island in the U.S. state of Alaska. Little Diomede Island is the smaller of the two Diomede Islands that are located in the middle of the Bering Strait; the larger of the two islands, Big Diomede Island, is part of Russia. Diomede is situated 5 km east of Ratmanova.
