The Enchanted Forest — Water Safari is an amusement park/water park. It is the largest water park in New York, United States, and is located within Old Forge, in the Adirondack region. Enchanted Forest Water Safari is situated 3½ km west of Dog Island.

Old Forge is a village of about 750 people in the Adirondacks. As one of the western gateway communities of the Adirondack Park, Old Forge forms an extensive business district, primarily directed at tourism especially during the summer months.

Thendara is a hamlet and census-designated place in Herkimer County, New York, United States. Thendara is located in the Adirondack Park, in the southern part of the town of Webb, west of Old Forge on Route 28. Thendara station is a station on the Adirondack Railroad; it was formerly the northern terminus of most northbound trains from Utica, which was extended to Tupper Lake in late spring, 2023. Thendara is situated 6 km west of Dog Island.
