Negit Island

Negit Island is an island in Mono Lake. Negit is a volcanic cone less than 2000 years old. It can be considered to be the northernmost of the Mono Craters.

Mono Lake is a massive lake that sits at over 6,000 feet elevation in the Eastern Sierra region of California, just east of Yosemite National Park. There are no rivers or streams to drain the lake's waters, resulting in high saline concentrations.

Mono City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Mono County, California, United States. It lies north of Mono Lake at the base of the Sierra Nevada at the junction of U.S. Route 395 and California State Route 167. Mono City is situated 5 miles west of Negit Island.
