Whakapara is a village and rural community in the Whangarei District, six kilometres north of Hikurangi, twenty-two kilometres north of central Whangārei, and eight kilometres south-east of Hūkerenui, in the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island.

Hikurangi is a settlement in Northland, New Zealand. The city of Whangārei is 17 kilometres to the south, and Kawakawa is 39 kilometres northwest. The Glenbervie Forest is southeast of the settlement. Hikurangi is situated 7 km south of Whakapara.

Hūkerenui is a settlement in Northland, New Zealand. State Highway 1 passes through the area. Kawakawa is northwest, and Hikurangi is southeast. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "large cascade" for Hukerenui. Hūkerenui is situated 7 km west of Whakapara.
