Grande Île

The Grande Île is an island that lies at the historic centre of Strasbourg, France. Its name derives from the fact that it is surrounded on one side by the main channel of the Ill river and on the other side by the Canal du Faux-Rempart, a canalised arm of that river.

The city of Strasbourg in France is the official seat of the European Parliament. The institution is legally bound by the decision of Edinburgh European Council of 11 and 12 December 1992 and Article 341 of the TFEU to meet there twelve times a year for a session, each of which usually takes about four days.

Schiltigheim is a commune located north of the city of Strasbourg in the Bas-Rhin department within the Grand Est region of north-eastern France. Schiltigheim is located in the historical and cultural region of Alsace which has been administratively integrated into the European Collectivity of Alsace since January 1, 2021.
