Monte San Giuliano was the historical name of the town and territory of Erice in western Sicily from the Norman period until 1934. The site originated as the ancient city of Eryx, but was reorganised and reoccupied after the Norman conquest of the 11th century, and gradually developed into an administrative and religious centre in western Sicily. Monte San Giuliano is situated 3½ km southwest of Roccascalegna.
