Great Yeldham is a village and civil parish in north Essex, England, about 6 miles from the Suffolk border. It is situated along the main A1017 road between Braintree and Haverhill. At the 2021 census the parish had a population of 1,948. Great Yeldham is situated 2½ miles south of Ovington.

Stoke-by-Clare is a small village and civil parish in Suffolk located in the valley of the River Stour, about two miles west of Clare. In 1124 Richard de Clare, 1st Earl of Hertford, moved the Benedictine Priory that had been established at his castle in Clare to Stoke-by-Clare.
