Layer Breton is a village and civil parish in the Colchester district of Essex, England. At the 2021 census the parish had a population of 285. It is one of three neighbouring parishes called Layer, the others being Layer de la Haye to the west, and Layer Marney to the east.

Abberton Reservoir is a pumped storage freshwater reservoir in eastern England near the Essex coast, with an area of 700 hectares. Most of its water is pumped from the River Stour. Abberton Reservoir is situated 2 miles east of Layer Breton.
