Layer-de-la-Haye

Layer de la Haye, sometimes hyphenated as Layer-de-la-Haye, is a village and civil parish in the City of Colchester district of Essex, England. It is the largest and easternmost of the three neighbouring parishes called Layer, the others being Layer Breton and Layer Marney.

Abberton Reservoir is a pumped storage freshwater reservoir in eastern England near the Essex coast, with an area of 700 hectares. Most of its water is pumped from the River Stour.

Open since June 1963, the zoo is home to many rare and endangered species, including big cats, primates and birds as well as many invertebrates and fish species. Colchester Zoo is situated 2 miles northwest of Layer-de-la-Haye.
