The Porta Maggiore, or Porta Prenestina, is one of the eastern gates in the ancient but well-preserved 3rd-century of . Through the gate ran two ancient roads: the Via Praenestina and the Via Labicana.

The is an underground basilica discovered in 1917 near Porta Maggiore in . It is dated to the 1st century BC. It is believed to have been the meeting place of the neo-Pythagoreans and is the only historical site that has been associated with the neo-Pythagorean movement. is situated 130 metres northeast of Porta Maggiore.
