Hypogeum of the Aurelii

The Hypogeum of the Aurelii or the Hypogeum of Aurelius Felicissimus is a privately run catacomb in Rome. It is sited at the junction of the modern viale Manzoni and via Luzzatti, behind the ancient via Labicana, in the Esquilino district.

Caligula’s Nymphaeum (Horti Lamiani)

The Horti Lamiani was a luxurious complex consisting of an ancient Roman villa with large gardens and outdoor rooms. It was located on the Esquiline Hill in Rome, in the area around the present Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Caligula’s Nymphaeum (Horti Lamiani) is situated 300 metres northwest of Hypogeum of the Aurelii.

Santa Maria Maggiore, also known as the Basilica of Saint Mary Major or the Basilica of Saint Mary the Great, is one of the four major papal basilicas and one of the Seven Pilgrim Churches of Rome. Santa Maria Maggiore is situated 1 km northwest of Hypogeum of the Aurelii.

Esquilino and San Giovanni are adjacent neighborhoods in Rome. Esquilino is named for the Esquiline hill on which it stands. It lies south of the Termini station and is centred more or less on the Piazza Vittorio Emmanuele II.
