Opened in 1911, it forms part of the Pisa–Livorno–Rome, Rome–Fiumicino railways, Rome-Viterbo and Rome-Civitavecchia. Roma Trastevere railway station is situated 190 metres northwest of Residenza Barsanti.

Monte Testaccio or Monte Testaceo, also known as Monte dei Cocci, is an artificial mound in Rome composed almost entirely of testae, fragments of broken ancient Roman pottery, nearly all discarded amphorae dating from the time of the Roman Empire, some of which were labelled with tituli picti. Monte Testaccio is situated 760 metres northeast of Residenza Barsanti.
