or Amathous was an ancient city-kingdom of Cyprus. It came under Ptolemaic rule in the 300s BC. Its ancient cult sanctuary of Aphrodite was the second most important in Cyprus—where her cult is thought to have originated—after . is situated 300 metres west of Amathous, Greek Bath.
