It is one of the churches for the Gulset og Skotfoss parish which is part of the Skien prosti in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. Skotfoss Church is situated 3½ km north of Klovholt.

Hakastein Church was a church under Gimsøy Abbey near Skien in Norway. It is first referred to in a manuscript from 1354. In 2001, archaeologists uncovered post-holes and other features which are believed to belong to the church. Hakastein Church is situated 4 km east of Klovholt.
