Sev Berd or Black Fortress is an abandoned Russian imperial fortress in Gyumri, Shirak Province, Armenia. The fortress, which lies 8 kilometres from the Turkish border, was built in response to the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–1829.

Gharibjanyan, known as Aleksandrovka until 1935, is a village in the Akhuryan Municipality of the Shirak Province of Armenia. The village was renamed in 1935 in honor of Bolshevik leader Bagrat Gharibjanyan, killed in 1920. Gharibjanyan is situated 3 km southwest of Kumayri.

Gyumri is the second largest city in Armenia and the capital of Shirak Province in Northern Armenia. The city was hit hard by the 1988 Spitak earthquake, the consequences of which are still visible throughout the city in the 2020’s.
