It is built over the burial site of King Olav II, who became the patron saint of the nation, and is the traditional location for the consecration of new Norwegian monarchs. Nidaros Cathedral is situated 510 metres northwest of Korsgata.

The Trampe bicycle lift is a bicycle lift in Trondheim, Norway, invented and installed in 1993 by Jarle Wanwik. In 2013 it was upgraded and rebranded under the name CycloCable by Skirail, part of the Poma group. Trampe bicycle lift is situated 580 metres north of Korsgata.
