The Scala Sancta are a set of 28 white marble steps located in an edifice on extraterritorial property of the Holy See in Rome, Italy proximate to the Archbasilica of Saint John in Laterano. Scala Sancta is situated 250 metres northwest of Porta San Giovanni.

San Giovanni is an underground interchange station on Lines A and C of the Rome Metro. The station is located in Piazzale Appio at the beginning of Via Appia Nuova, beside the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, from which the station takes its name.

The Lateran Obelisk is the largest standing ancient Egyptian obelisk in the world, and it is also the tallest obelisk in Italy. It originally weighed 413 tonnes, but after collapsing and being re-erected 4 metres shorter, now weighs around 300 tonnes. Lateran Obelisk is situated 390 metres west of Porta San Giovanni.
