Ae is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, south west Scotland. The village is located on the edge of a 15,000-acre human-made conifer forest, and is approximately 9 miles north of Dumfries. Ae is situated 2½ miles northwest of Parkgate.

By the 12th century the Bruce family had become the local landowners and, in the 14th century, Edward I rebuilt Lochmaben Castle. Lochmaben is situated 5 miles southeast of Parkgate.
