Lower Horse is a 31.1-acre uninhabited island off the English coast, lying in the Thames Estuary between Canvey Island and Stanford-le-Hope, close to grid reference TQ760828.

Canvey Wick

Canvey Wick is a 93.2-hectare Site of Special Scientific Interest at the south-west corner of Canvey Island in Essex. It is owned by The Land Trust and 18.5 hectares is managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and Buglife as a nature reserve, who are working to bring more of the area under management and to improve public access.

Coryton Refinery was an oil refinery in Essex, England, on the estuary of the River Thames 28 miles from central London, between Shell Haven Creek and Hole Haven Creek, which separates Canvey Island from the mainland.

Fobbing is a village in the borough of Thurrock in Essex, England. It is between Basildon and Corringham, and is also close to Stanford-le-Hope, the latter being its post town. Fobbing is situated 2 miles west of Upper Horse.

South Benfleet is a town in the Castle Point district of Essex, England, 30 miles east of London. It is adjacent to the village of North Benfleet. The Benfleet post town includes South Benfleet, Thundersley, New Thundersley and Hadleigh. South Benfleet is situated 2½ miles northeast of Upper Horse.

Corringham

Corringham is a town in the borough of Thurrock in Essex, England. It lies immediately east of Stanford-le-Hope, its post town, and Corringham is now classed as part of the Stanford-le-Hope built up area by the Office for National Statistics. Corringham is situated 3½ miles west of Upper Horse.
