Colbost is the first of a straggle of tiny settlements on the Duirnish Peninsula in the northwest of Skye. The others are Totaig, Glendale, Lephin and Milovaig, then the road dead-ends.

Totaig is a small crofting settlement on the west coast of Loch Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye. The village of Dunvegan is 5 miles southeast. Totaig is situated 1½ miles northwest of Eilean Dubh.

Dunvegan is a small village on Skye in the Scottish Inner Hebrides, with a population of 386 in 2011. The main draw is the castle. Dunvegan is also a base for exploring Duirnish, the peninsula to the west.
