The Ring of Brodgar is a Neolithic henge and stone circle about 6 miles north-east of Stromness on Mainland, the largest island in Orkney, Scotland. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Heart of Neolithic Orkney. Ring of Brodgar is situated 2 miles south of Ess Holm.

Harray is an Orcadian parish and village on Mainland, Orkney, Scotland, United Kingdom. The village is near the Loch of Harray and was used by the Vikings for waterway transportation and Old Norse was spoken in the area up until the 1700s.

Dounby is a village on Mainland in Orkney, in the north of Scotland. Dounby village is situated at the crossroads of what are now the A986 and B9057, and has grown close to the meeting point of the three parishes of Sandwick, Birsay and Harray. Dounby is situated 2½ miles north of Ess Holm.

Stenness

Stenness is a small, scattered village in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, on the A965 main road between Kirkwall and Stromness. It has several UNESCO World Heritage Listed neolithic sights: the Stones, Maeshowe and Ring of Brodgar, with Skara Brae a few miles further north.
