Bala Lake

Bala Lake, or Llyn Tegid, is a large freshwater glacial lake in Gwynedd, Wales. The River Dee, which has its source on the slopes of Dduallt in the mountains of Snowdonia, feeds the 3.7-by-0.5-mile lake.

Maes Tegid is a community playing field in Bala, Wales. It is currently used mostly for football matches, and is the home ground of Bala Town. The stadium holds 3,000 people, with 504 seats and has been used by Bala Town since the 1950s.

Bala is the current terminus of the heritage Bala Lake Railway, in Gwynedd, Wales, since 1976. The site was formerly the location of the Bala Lake Halt railway station, a former station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line.

Frongoch is a village located in Gwynedd, Wales. It lies close to the market town of Bala, on the A4212 road. It was the home of the Frongoch internment camp, used to hold German prisoners-of-war during First World War, and then Irish Republican prisoners from the 1916 Rising. Frongoch is situated 2½ miles northwest of Bala.

Llangywer is a community near Bala, Gwynedd, Wales. It is in the historic county of Merionethshire, and is located on the south side of Bala Lake. In 2011 the population of Llangywer was 260, with 67.2% of them able to speak Welsh. Llangywer is situated 2½ miles southwest of Bala.
