Biggar

Skirling is a parish, community council area and village in Peeblesshire in the Scottish Borders situated 2+1⁄2 miles east of Biggar in Lanarkshire. Biggar Water, a tributary the River Tweed forms the southern boundary of the parish with the parish of Broughton, Glenholm and Kilbucho. Skirling is situated 2 miles east of Biggar.

Coulter or Culter is a small village and civil parish in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It lies approximately 3 miles south of Biggar. Some old maps and local modern houses also have the spelling Cootyre - "a safe place for cows." Nearby are two notable Scottish hills, Tinto and Culter Fell. Coulter is situated 2½ miles southwest of Biggar.
