Tuguegarao is the only city in Cagayan province, and is the transportation hub for the region. It is the regional center of Cagayan Valley, with a reputation for hot weather.

Aparri is a town in northern Cagayan. It lies at the mouth of the Cagayan River which drains into the Babuyan Channel. This article covers only the mainland portion; Fuga Island, while administratively part of the town, is considered a separate destination.
