Swords

Swords is a town 12 km north of Dublin, with a population in 2022 of 41,000. It's historically in County Dublin, which in 1994 was divided, with Swords becoming the county town of Fingal. Dublin Airport is within the town limits and much of Swords is industrial or commuterland for the city, but with an ancient castle and Round Tower.
Howth

Howth is a small seaside town historically in County Dublin, 14 km northeast of Dublin city centre. It's on a "tombola" peninsula - once an island, it became connected to the mainland by a sandy isthmus, which is now the residential area of Sutton.
Malahide

Malahide is a seaside town 18 km northeast of Dublin, with a population in 2022 of 18,608. Historically it's part of County Dublin, which was divided so nowadays Malahide is governed by County Fingal.
Balbriggan

Balbriggan is a seaside town at the north end of County Dublin, 32 km north of Dublin city centre. It was a small fishing village until 1780 then grew rapidly as a textile town, processing cotton and linen.
Booterstown

Booterstown is a coastal suburban town near Dublin. The Bellfield campus of University College Dublin, a major research university, is about 2 km west of Booterstown. The area is home to Booterstown marsh, a bird sanctuary.
Dalkey

Dalkey is a picturesque seaside village in the suburbs of Dublin. It has a Norman castle, several scenic walks, and the island just offshore was a pilgrimage site and slave market.
