Kilkenny is the county town of in southeast Ireland, with a population of 27,000 in 2022. At its core is the medieval city founded by the Normans, and in the 1640s it was effectively the capital of Ireland.

Railway station
Kilkenny railway station serves the city of Kilkenny in . It is a station on the Dublin to Waterford intercity route. and was given the name MacDonagh on 10 April 1966 in commemoration of Thomas MacDonagh, one of the executed leaders of the Easter Rising of 1916.
