El-Obeid, also romanized as Al-Ubayyid, is the capital of the state of North Kordofan, in Sudan.

Abyei is a town that is administered by Sudan and claimed by South Sudan. It has been one of the flashpoints in the ongoing conflict between the two countries since the Sudanese Civil Wars, as it is disputed between the two countries.
