Merowe is a town in Northern State, Sudan, near Karima Town, about 330 kilometres north of Khartoum. It borders the Nile and is the site of the Merowe Dam project, the largest contemporary hydropower project in Africa.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Sanam is a modern village in Sudan. It is located at the bank of the Nile river next to Merowe. Here were found the remains of an ancient town which flourished mainly in the Napatan Period.
