The Laguna Grande de Peñalara, also known as Laguna de Peñalara, is a lake of glacial origin located at the bottom of the Peñalara cirque, at 2017 meters altitude, in the central area of the Sierra de Guadarrama, belonging to the Sistema Central, in the Iberian Peninsula. Laguna Grande de Peñalara is situated 2½ km northwest of Los Hoyones.

Valdesquí is a ski area situated near the town of Rascafría in the Sierra de Guadarrama near Madrid. The area is close to the Navacerrada resort, and projects have been attempted to link the two areas, stopped by ecologist movements. Valdesquí is situated 4½ km southwest of Los Hoyones.
