Whernside is a mountain in the Yorkshire Dales in Northern England. It is the highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, the other two being Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent. Whernside is situated 1½ miles east of The Wold.

Scar End is a settlement on the side of Twisleton Scar in the English county of North Yorkshire. This Scar itself is the end of a spur running westwards from Whernside, one of the Three Peaks, towards Ingleton, North Yorkshire, and the beds of limestone project to a height of 120 metres above sea level. Scar End is situated 3½ miles south of The Wold.
