Built in 1775 CE, during the Ottoman rule of the Levant, the mosque was originally named al-Nasr Mosque, in honor of Admiral Hassan Pasha al-Jazairli's victory over local ruler Daher al-Omar in August 1775. Al-Jarina Mosque is situated 230 metres east of Abd Abu Yusuf.
