The Great Blasket is the principal island of the Blaskets, County Kerry, Ireland. It was home to a small fishing community of Irish speakers until the island was abandoned in 1953 when living there became unsustainable. Great Blasket Island is situated 2½ km southwest of Old Town.

Baile an Fheirtéaraigh unofficially anglicised as Ballyferriter, or also known as An Buailtín, is a Gaeltacht village in County Kerry, Ireland. It is in the west of the Corca Dhuibhne peninsula and according to the 2002 census, about 75% of the town's population speak the Irish language on a daily basis. Ballyferriter is situated 10 km northeast of Old Town.
