Thornewood is an English Gothic estate in what is now Lakewood, Washington. It consists of three buildings, including Thornewood Castle, which was built from the brick of a dismantled 15th-century house imported from England. Thornewood is situated 1½ miles east of Gorden Woods.

Originally a company town, the city is named after the DuPont chemical company which operated an explosives manufacturing plant in the area from 1909 to 1975.
