St Mary the Virgin's Church is the parish church of Arkengarthdale, a valley in North Yorkshire, in England. There was a mediaeval church in Arkle Town in Arkengarthdale, but its foundations were undermined by the Arkle Beck, and it was pulled down in the 1810s.

Whaw is a hamlet in Arkengarthdale in North Yorkshire, England. It is one of few settlements in the dale and is one of the smallest. Its name derives from the Old Norse of Kvi and Hagi, which means the enclosure of the sheep.

It is the main settlement in the dale and is one of the most northerly settlements in the whole of Yorkshire Dales National Park. Langthwaite is situated 1½ miles east of Dam Rigg Cross Hush.
